Clays locksmiths Leicester were called out today to fit new window locks on a customers windows. Now there are many different types of window locks so it’s always important to keep a wide range on our vans. Not only did the customer want new locks but wanted new handles fitted to. On entering the house clays locksmiths Leicester noticed not only where the handle is broken but the window mechanisms had failed. This means that the windows would not open and had to be manipulated so that they would open .
On this occasion one of the windows were stuck fast and I had to remove the pain of glass, so that I could get enough leverage on it without breaking the window pain. After I got the window open I had to remove the rods that connect to the window gearbox. On this occasion the rods are fitted with a click and turn style . But they can be really awkward to remove as they are tricky to turn so that they release. These rods are in two parts with the second part of the rod being adjustable so that you can adjust it so that it locks into the keeps. The next part of the job was to remove the handle and take out the broken gearbox. On this particular bike there were several styles so luckily Clay’s locksmiths Leicester had one on their van . It’s so important to keep a wide range of parts as there is nothing worse to having to go back to the job a second time. After fitting the new gearbox and handle them the tricky part of screwing the rods back into the gearbox. You have to do this blind as you cannot see what are you doing because the roads are running internally in the window. So it takes a lot of patience. After 30 minutes or so Clay’s Locksmiths Leicester had completed one window and just two more to do. The second window was harder as it was high up and was an up and over window. But luckily enough it was on the ground floor so I didn’t have to remove the window from the frame. Clay is locksmiths Leicester always ask the client to try the windows and to make sure they are happy before we sign the job off.
