Clays locksmiths Leicester were called out the other day by a couple who were having difficulty getting into their garage door. They had purchased a new house and they were never given the key to the garage. I asked them what type of lock it was and they informed me that it was A lot similar to what they had on their front door. This gave me some indication that it was a euro style lock fitted. It is always important to try and get as much information as possible to make sure we carry the parts on our vans. Here at Clay’s locksmiths Leicester will sometimes get you to take a photo if possible so it gives us a heads up before we get there. On this occasion the customer sent us some close-up photos of the lock and to my horror I could see that they had tried to drill the lock themselves, also damaging the lock case and the garage door itself, but still haven’t managed to open the garage door.
On arrival Clays locksmiths Leicester managed to extract the cylinder from the lock case and opened the garage door. I tried to fit a new Euro cylinder after straightening up the case which they had damaged. The euro lock was now in its correct position but the garage would not lock. Where the customers had tried to drill out the old lock themselves they had damaged the internal part of the locking mechanism. They thanked me for opening the garage for them and I informed them that they needed a New garage door mechanism which they could get online and would be cheaper for them to do this themselves as they were on a very tight budget. After finishing my cup of tea that the client had made for me I was intrigued why the Lock mechanism would not work ,so I took it upon myself to strip it down completely. I noticed that where they had previously drilled the lock, it had broken up into many pieces and fallen into the mechanism thus stopping the lock from working correctly. Clays locksmiths Leicester will always try and help a customer out even if it means that it takes us more time and would not charge the customer anymore for doing this.I cleared out the debris and fitted the euro lock back into its original position, and the lock worked perfectly saving the customer an additional £60. You can imagine the customer was smiling and really appreciated that I had saved her some money. Clays locksmiths Leicester is always here to help and try to save you money and I am sure most locksmiths in Leicester would do the same.
